Catholics in Union City erected their first log chapel in 1856. The present church building dates from 1892. The rectory was completed in 1912. The parish had a Catholic school where the present parish hall stands from 1877 to 1968. Since 2003, Saint Mary has shared a priest with Saint Joseph, Winchester.
